“I have secured a better future for myself and my family thanks to volunteering”

Matt volunteered 600 hours over 10 months in order to gain an insight into plumbing, build up his skills and confidence and enhance his knowledge. Following two years of unemployment and no previous experience, he wanted to start afresh and build a better life for himself and his family.

He dedicated many months as a volunteer to learn as much as he could. His dyslexia had been holding him back from applying for jobs and filling in application forms, but through volunteering he was able to brush up on these skills and gain the confidence he needed to move forward.

His dedication and commitment paid off as he has now secured an apprenticeship as a plumber with the same team.

He is certainly a role model to others, showing that anything is possible if you put the effort in. He is testament to hard work, transforming his life and securing a better future for his family.

Congratulations to Matt who has been shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year Award at the Conwy Business Awards in June. Good luck!
